May 10th Thursday ANGELA's 50th - Samara to Amiens
13km
We woke early & having quickly decorated the boat with balloons & banners My great little sis, Angela opened presents & cards.
We set off along another delightful stretch,
& soon moored on the new port d'Amiens pontoon opposite the beautiful boathouse. We had been warned of potential security risks here so I used my new Perspex windows for the first time. Tres content with my labours.
I got a tad annoyed when some local children who were enjoying a visit to the boat club to try some rowing were less than careful & skilled enough to avoid bashing into Doucette a couple of times & resulted in the irate skipper yelling a loud "attention s'il vous plait" to attract the attention of the seemingly unconcerned teachers which is what really ruffled my chilled out feathers.
We spent 2hrs sorting out a sim card for the iPad. As I feared, Failure, back tomorrow. We celebrated Angela 's 50th with a wonderful meal in the packed Le Quay restaurant on Port St Leu. With a super sunset & vista of stunning Amiens cathedral providing a suitable backdrop to the occasion. I had managed to procure some cakes & a 50th candle & we returned to Doucette for
11pm champagne, cream cakes & a last rendition of happy birthday.
It had been another lovely day and hopefully a special day for little sis.
Weather - hot & sunny into afternoon after a cloudy morning
